What to Expect

In 2009, Central PCUSA, Russellville adopted a new vision statement to guide the growth of God's mission and our ministries in the Arkansas River Valley. "Loving God, Serving Others, Sharing Faith" has become much more that nice words on the church's letterhead. It is our driving ethos. We are a community of God's beloved children who strive to share that love locally and globally. We are a welcoming community of faith trying to extend hospitality to ALL of God's children because we are grateful for the love, grace, and mercy God has first shown us. We are a "come as and who you are" congregation whose worship style falls on the traditional end of the spectrum. We have one of the finest pipe organs in the state of Arkansas and still use hymnals. Our regular Sunday worship follows the Revised Common Lectionary with the liturgy and sermon being based on the weekly scripture readings. We celebrate the sacrament of the Lord's Supper on the first Sunday of every month and on special occasions during the liturgical year. While we are sometimes rightly accused of being the "Frozen Chosen," we are open to the movements of God's Spirit and have been known to clap, laugh, and let an "Alleluia! or Amen!" slip on occasion. Most importantly, we are a part of Christ's Body that is always willing to pull up another chair so everyone can find a place at the family table.
